Now that the shell-shock has passed of getting kids back to school, I’m hoping to have more time to focus on fitness & mental health now that I’m no longer their quarantine entertainment. I’m likely going to focus on building habits first, then prepping for the local Turkey Trot, then go from there.

I was planning to do a late October trail ultra. I picked up my training in June for it, but have decided not to register now. Instead I'm planning to do an ultra distance point to point run with a few friends. There's a section of trail I've been eyeing for a while and I think this would be a great way to experience it.

I have the virtual Boston Half in September and the virtual Boston Marathon to complete my "Collect the Whole Set" of 2021 Virtual BAA events ( I've already completed the 5 and 10K's)

Outdoor events in Ontario have pandemic caps on attendance but a few adventurous Race Directors are offering in-person events. I have a half marathon bib for an event in November with an option to upgrade to the marathon if covid restrictions allow.

I'd regale you with the stories of the huge 7km downhill on the course but the route has been altered to eliminate the need for bussing to the start.

Did I mention IN-PERSON RACING!!! (fingers crossed)

I'm training for an October marathon, but since I BQ'd last October for 2022 Boston, and this year's marathon is hilly, the time pressure is off. After PR'ing a half marathon in June, and seeing how speed work has been going, I have high hopes of PRs for 5k and 10k this fall.

Fall goals- some might take all the way till next spring to achieve. October 25k race. Goals- win race, age group record. Goal I'm currently working towards is lowering my 5k time. Been 5 years since I have run a 5k race. Goal is to run in the 5k in the 19's in the 65-69 age group. The next goal will be sub 1:28 in the half marathon.
