Most of my "crazy weather" comes from living in upstate NY. I feel like below 0 and extremely windy would be my choice. I am a baby now and if the weather doesn't look great or safe, I'm on the treadmill with zero remorse.

Not sure what's crazier, three feet of snow or 40-mph headwinds. I live in southern Utah, where the weather is unpredictable. Running into the wind is just another kind of resistance training.

I've run in some bad heat, but nothing I would ever consider extreme. But I once did a 50k in sub zero F temperatures (it was -20 at the start) not counting the wind. The weirdest part was that it wasn't that miserable thanks to dressing smart.

Once when I was towards the end of a run in Kansas, the town's tornado sirens went off. I didn't intentionally run in the tornado warning, but I felt pretty crazy hightailing it home. Windchill of -15 is the worst I intentionally ran in.

RnR San Antonio, 2016: monsoon rain the entire weekend. They canceled the Saturday kids' race, but the regular 10K, Half, and Full marathons went on as scheduled. Flooded streets, sheets of water. At one point, a bunch of us were sheltering under a freeway overpass debating whether to call a Lyft to get back to the finish (we did eventually finish on foot).

I guess it would be as a pacer at Badwater. It was the hottest weather I've run in but it was manageable. If I am running under 30* then that's crazy for me and I'll go to the treadmill.

Side note - that article about alcohol consumption is excellent. Thanks for sharing.

Most of my crazy weather has unfortunately been unseasonably hot. Ran the Colonial 200 one year in April with temperatures in the mid-90's. That sucked and the race organizers played with the rules to get people off the course sooner.

On January 31 of this year, I ran the Naked Nick 50k just west of Reading, PA as a major winter storm rolled through. It was so bad that Skip and Kurt both decided to quit after 25k to go home. A close second is the January 2020 Phunt 50k that went from snow to sleet to freezing rain. My car had over an inch of ice on the windshield when I went to leave. 🤣

Training run at 4 below zero.Only lasted 3 miles. Half marathon race where temp was 28 and 30mph winds. Had to run race in sweat pants. Traing run where I encountered hail, rain and sunshine.
